Modern Man: #Movember is here! Raise awareness of men’s health issues
We are finally in November or as you may already know Movember! The month in which we support a variety of men’s health issues!
Movember will get men to grow moustaches and the community to support them by creating an innovative, fun and engaging annual Movember campaign that results in:
- Funding for the Movember Foundation’s men’s health programmes
- Conversations about men’s health that lead to:
- Awareness and understanding of the health risks men face
- Men taking action to remain well
What is Movember?
Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer and other male cancers, and associated charities. The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event, housed at www.movember.com. The goal of Movember is to “change the face of men’s health.
By encouraging men (which the charity refers to as “Mo Bros”) to get involved, Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments, and ultimately reduce the number of preventable deaths. Besides annual check-ups, the Movember Foundation encourages men to be aware of family history of cancer and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Male Health Concerns
Prostate cancer – Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, with over 40,000 new cases diagnosed every year. Prostate cancer usually develops slowly, so there may be no signs you have it for many years.

Premature ejaculation – premature ejaculation (PE) means coming too quickly, and it’s one of the most common sexual problems.
Commonly used medication for PE is Priligy 30mg Tablets – It is a tablet taken by men to increase the time taken to ejaculate. Priligy delays the chemical reactions which cause ejaculation by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain.
Erectile dysfunction – Erectile dysfunction (ED), also known as impotence, is the inability to get and maintain an erection that is sufficient for satisfactory sexual intercourse.
Hair loss – Alopecia means loss of hair or baldness. There are several different causes and patterns of alopecia. Alopecia areata is one type of hair loss. Estimates of the number of people affected vary between 1 in 1,000 to 2 in 100 at some point in their life.

Eat a healthy diet – Moderation is key, as is eating a wide range of foods to ensure you get a variety of nutrients and vitamins. When choosing your meals, ensure you fill up with fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthy proteins like lean meats, poultry, fish, beans and nuts. Eat foods low in saturated fats, Tran’s fats, cholesterol, salt and added sugars. Drink water instead of beverages that contain a lot of sugar like soft drinks, sports drinks, fruit drinks or shakes.
Do not smoke – If you do smoke, take steps to stop. Compared to non-smokers, smokers are about 20 times more likely to develop lung cancer. Smoking causes about 90% of lung cancer deaths in males and doubles your risk of heart disease. Get advice about how to quit smoking, as there are many options available. – Stop smoking
